Jessie Washburne-Harris Named Global Director Of White Cube

Iconic gallery White Cube has named New York-based Jessie Washburne-Harris as the new global director of the gallery.
Jessie Washburne-Harris would be taking up the new role after stepping down from her existing role as vice-president at Pace Gallery, which she joined in July 2021. Prior to Pace, she was a part of Gagosian, Petzel, Sotheby’s, and Marian Goodman. She also founded the Harris Leiberman Gallery in 2005 and is part of the Art Dealers Association of America. Jessie Washburne-Harris will join White Cube in her new role from October.
Being from New York, Jessie Washburne-Harris would be part of the gallery’s strategy to deepen its presence in the country. Sam Johnson, CEO of White Cube, said: “The US has always been at the core of White Cube’s global outlook. […] this is the right moment to deepen our leadership capacity in the US.”

Talking about her new role, Jessie Washburne-Harris said: “White Cube played a pivotal role in shaping an entire art movement in the 1990s, something few commercial galleries can claim as part of their DNA. I feel like this legacy continues to define how the gallery operates today: artist-centered, fostering experimentation, and creating the conditions where art history is made.” Her arrival coincides with the 2nd anniversary of the gallery’s first permanent space in New York. Founded in London in 1993, White Cube expanded across the world before setting up a location in New York in 2023.
