Art Basel Announces New Miami Fest In October

MCH, parent company of Art Basel, has announced the Jupiter Festival, scheduled for October this year in Miami.

Unlike Art Basel, Jupiter Festival will focus on mass media. The inaugural event will feature names like Rebecca Glashow (CEO, Tribeca Enterprises), Brian Albert (YouTube personality), Kenny Smith (Host, Inside the NBA), and Bill Owens (former producer, 60 Minutes). The festival will be much more in tune with MCH Group, which is a live marketing company based in Basel, Switzerland.

William Mellis, CEO and co-founder of the Jupiter Festival, said: “The industry doesn’t have an event that does what we do. I start with that as a fundamental premise. We’re all about the future of content. The industry is going through, I would say, a seismic change, not a transformational change. It’s far deeper than that, and in order to understand what the future of video content is, we bring the industry together with the senior people in the industry to explore debate and figure out what they’re going to do to be successful in the new paradigm.”

Andrea Zappia, who took over as CEO of MCH Group last April, said: “There is no doubt that media, even more than ever, represents a fundamental pillar of the cultural development of our societies. Through our conversations at Art Basel, we try to instigate thought leadership moments, and so what we thought is that media is a very adjacent concept area in a broader cultural territory.”

The Jupiter Festival will be held in the same venue as the Art Basel Miami Beach – the Miami Beach Convention Center. The exact dates of the festival are yet to be announced.
