Allison Glenn Chosen To Curate 2026 Toronto Biennial

Curator Allison Glenn has been selected to curate the Toronto Biennial of Art, scheduled for late 2026.

One of the curators on rise, Allison Glenn has over 15 years of experience in the field. She began her career in 2011 at The Hammer Museum in LA. She has worked as the director of Monique Meloche Gallery, and a senior curator at the Public Art Fund. Her tenure as the associate curator of contemporary art at the Crystal Bridges Museum was remarkable for her initiative of planting outdoor sculptures at the museum’s open area. Currently, she is serving as the artistic director at The Shepherd in Detroit.

Apart from institutional leadership, Allison Glenn has also been involved in organizing numerous successful art events and exhibitions. Perhaps her best-known show is “Promise, Witness, Remembrance” which opened in Lousiville in 2021. It was dedicated to the life of Breonna Taylor, a victim of police brutality, and featured works of over 20 artists. Glenn was also associated with the 2023 Counterpublic Triennial as co-curator, and with the 2018 Prospect.4 Triennial as cultural associate.

Speaking of her selection, Patrizia Libralato (Founder, Toronto Biennial) said: “Allison has a strong track record of collaborating with artists to develop ambitious ideas and realize transformative projects. Her thoughtful approach, as well as her deep interest in Canada having grown up in nearby Detroit, will no doubt allow her to seamlessly work with artists and partners from across the country as well as internationally to create a powerful Biennial for Toronto.”
