Last week, the benefit to support Vice President Kamala Harris brought art donations ranging between $25 to $300,000.
The ‘Artists For Kamala’ benefit was held to support the presidential bid of Democratic Party nominee and current US Vice President, Kamala Harris. The artworks were donated on September 29, at the time when Harris was campaigning in Nevada. Apart from her presidential campaign, the funds would also go towards the Democratic National Committee and various state Democratic committees.

A variety of artists came forward to donate to the cause of Kamal Harris. This included major names such as Carrie Mae Weems and George Condo. The donations started from basic prints of artworks priced at just $25. However, few others went upwards of hundreds of dollars. Some noteworthy donations included: ‘American Flagpole (Gazing Balls)’ by Jeff Koons (Est. $300,000, the highest estimated artwork at the benefit), ‘Women Are Beautiful’ by George Condo (Est. $150,000), ‘Selection From Truisms: There are too few…’ by Jenny Holzer (Est. $200,000), and ‘Man in the Mirror’ by Katherine Bernhardt (Est. $110,000).

In total, 164 works were donated during the benefit. Of these, 50 would be put on the marketplace Artsy for online auctions. The auctions began on September 30 and would go on until October 8. The online auction is expected to fetch over $1 million in sales. The rest of the works would be sold at a fixed price on the Artists For Kamala website, open to the general public. The US Presidential elections are scheduled to be held on November 5th this year, where Kamala Harris will be standing against former president Donald Trump.
