Update: Florida State University has confirmed that the institute has rejected Governor Ron DeSantis’s proposal and there is no imminent risk of pulled donations.
Since the proposal of transfer of the John and Mable Ringling Museum from the Florida State University to New College of Florida presented earlier this year, donors are threatening to pull their donations.
Reportedly, three unnamed donors have said that they are reconsidering the donations they had earlier planned, which totals around $750,000. The action is in response to the controversial transfer engineered by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The proposal was denounced when it was first tabled because the new venue is not only much smaller than its previous home, but reportedly also not equipped to handle the entire collection.

In 2023, the governer appointed many close aides as college trustees, and appointed former a Republican House speaker as its president.
