At the young age of 17, Alexa turned her focus into creating her own brand, designed to give all women access to cruelty free makeup that enhances their natural beauty. Celebrities including Jessie James Decker have done sold out collaborations with the brand. Today The Art Insider had the opportunity to speak to the makeup artist…
Where do you get your inspiration from for new products?
I love to stay up to date with the latest social media trends, which is the key to success since we are online-based. I also get a lot of inspiration from fashion and seeing the latest color trends.
Jessie James Decker recently did a collab with Alexa Persico. Do you have any other Celebrity collaborations in the future?
We have been working with Jessie for almost 6 years now and have had amazing success with our collaborations. Although many representatives of celebrities have inquired, we are more so focusing on expanding our brand.

What has been the biggest challenge you have faced to date with Alexa Persico Cosmetics?
When I first started it was difficult for me to understand how long the creation process takes from the moment you have a new product idea to having the finished product. That time frame can be very long and frustrating, especially if production ends up taking longer than expected. I only want to market the best products possible and that takes time, so patience has been my biggest challenge to date.
What is the most important beauty advice you can give to women?
The best beauty advice I can give is to be confident in yourself, and I know that may sound cliche but it’s the honest truth, love who you are above all. I think that’s why I love makeup as much as I do and I gravitated towards the beauty industry at such a young age. The most rewarding thing working as a Makeup Artist was seeing the confidence boost women get from something as simple as a smokey eye and a nude lip. Confidence is key in life, not just with yourself but with your work ethic, relationships, etc, when you’re confident no one can take that away from you.
What product do you think should be a staple in every woman’s bag?A perfect nude lipstick, you can’t go wrong with a neutral-toned lip, no matter what season, or time of day. It is an absolute staple!
If you were not in the makeup industry, what else would you do?
It’s tough to even picture doing anything else but makeup, but over the last few years, I have really grown to love interior design! So maybe I would be in that line of work.

What advice do you have for any Makeup Artists looking to launch their own makeup line?
My advice would be to stay authentic to what you envision. Write down your ideas on paper, come up with a structured business plan of how you are going to sell the product, who your demographic will be, etc. It’s easy to sit back and think about starting a company but you have to have some type of plan in place on how you are going to market and sell the product. Above all don’t give up, stay focused & keep going.
What beauty trends do you predict for 2022?
I think we are going to see a lot of dewy skin paired with contoured lips and I can definitely see shimmer eyes making a big come back for summer 2022 which I love!
