Passionate, brains, beauty—New Bedford, Massachusetts native Alana Monteiro came to New York City with a plan…a plan to conquer the modeling industry. At just 18 years old and fresh out of high school Alana Monteiro, signed to powerhouse agency Wilhelmina Models where her career as a fledging model began. Fast forward several years, she has now modeled for some of the biggest beauty brands in America including Bare Minerals, Covergirl and MAC Cosmetics. She has also been featured in top tier publications including Harpers Bazaar, Elle, Numero, L’Officiel, Grazia and Marie Claire. Today we had the opportunity to sit down and chat with her.
Can you describe your first modeling shoot?
My first modeling shoot was a bridal shoot. I remember just turning 18 years old. I was out shooting in the woods for about 10 hours with the most gorgeous wedding dress. My dad and sister came to watch.
What have you learnt as a fashion model over the years?
I’ve learned patience. You’ll grow in time as long as you have a strong hustle and a good work ethic.
What 3 tips do you have for an aspiring model?
Get an agent, test shoot a ton, know your angles.
You have worked for many of the top major cosmetic brands including, Covergirl, L’Oréal Paris, Nars, Clinique, Mac and Bareminerals. What brands are on your bucket list?
Dior Makeup, Victoria Secret, Givenchy, Versace
What has been your biggest pinch me moment to date?
Being on a billboard in Times Square next to Beyonce and Kylie Jenner!
You have over 1 million Instagram followers. How do you think Instagram is useful towards the Fashion Modeling industry?
It made it easier to promote your work and connect with people in the industry.
What are you current go to products for an everyday look?
Moisturizer, a light powder, eyebrow pencil, mascara, blush and lipgloss.
You recently came out in a relationship with comedian Lorenzo Cromwell aka Renny. When did you two meet and do you have future plans as a couple?
We met back in 2016 and we plan to continue to excel in our careers and leave a legacy!
