The Andy Warhol Foundation would give $4 million under its Fall 2022 grants to 48 non-profit art organizations.
The Andy Warhol Foundation, which was created in memory of artist Andy Warhol, offers grants in three categories: 2-year programming support, exhibition support, and research fellowships. Irrespective of the category, recipients can spend up to half of the grant on administrative expenses.
CURRENTS/Parallel Studios (Santa Fe, New Mexico) and Oretga Y Gasset Projects (Brooklyn) were first-time recipients of the 2-year support. SPACES (Cleveland) already announced its intention to use the grant for organizing the U.S. Pavillion at the 2023 Venice Architectural Biennale. Exhibitions that received the grant include “An Incomplete History of Zines by Artists” at Brooklyn Museum and “Monuments” at MCA, LA. Recipients of the research grants include Amara Antilla (The Contemporary Arts Center) and Laurel V. McLaughlin (Artspace). Most research grants were $50,000, though some were lower. On the other hand, the majority of two-year support and exhibition support received $100,000 in grants.
“The Foundation’s grant program recognizes the vital role played by artist-centered organizations, community-oriented spaces, and major museums to amplify the voices and visions of artists. In addition to championing experimental artistic practices, they provide crucial platforms from which artists can contribute to important cultural dialogues.” – Joel Wachs (President of the foundation).
