Frieze New York Announces Galleries For 2025 Edition

Frieze New York returns to The Shed for the upcoming edition as well, with 65 galleries joining the event.

The New York edition of the international art fair will be returning to its favorite location, The Shed in Manhattan. The 13th edition of Frieze New York announced the names of 65 galleries from 25 countries that would be a part of the event. The list includes major names like Gagosian and David Zwirner, as well as international players like Goodman Gallery and White Cube. However, the list is smaller than last year, when 68 galleries took part in the art fair.

The Focus would likely remain the most anticipated section in the fair, curated by Lumi Tan for a second year in a row. The Focus is a special section of the Frieze art fair that highlights newer galleries and lesser-known artists. This year, 12 exhibitors will be part of The Focus, with 7 of them joining Frieze for the first time, like Yeo Workshop and King’s Leap. Lumi Tan also added in a press release that she was glad of the international presence at The Focus, with participants from countries like Seoul and Singapore. Some known projects at The Focus include: an homage to artist/curator Jenni Crain (who died at 30 due to Covid-19), video works by Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley exploring the Black experience, and a textile-based reinterpretation of Indonesian epics by Citra Sasmita.

Frieze New York 2025 will run between May 7 to May 11. Early bird tickets will be open for booking from 28th February.
