Photofairs Launches Hong Kong Edition For 2025

Shortly after canceling the New York edition of 2024, Photofairs has announced the Hong Kong edition for 2025.

The event will be held between March 26 and March 30, during the Hong Kong Art Week. It will be hosted at the Central Harbourfront space. The inaugural event will be headed by Fan Ni, who currently serves as the director of Photofairs Shanghai. Fan Ni joined Photofairs Shanghai, which has been held since 2014, in 2019.

The news came only a few weeks after the cancellation of the 2024 edition of Photofairs New York. At the time, the art fair stated: “Our priority is mounting a dynamic and high-quality event, so we feel it is best to hold the fair once market conditions improve. In the meantime, we remain committed to PHOTOFAIRS and to its role as a vital platform and convenor for the photography and contemporary art community.”

The London-based Creo Arts will manage the inaugural Hong Kong edition. The firm has also been organizing Photofairs Shanghai since its inception. The event will be co-organized by Angus Montgomery Arts which has a significant presence in South Asian art space. It has previously organized art fairs like Taipei Dangdai, India Art Fair, and Tokyo Gendai.

Scott Gray, founder and CEO of Creo Arts, expects 50-75 exhibitors for the art fair. Hong Kong will also see the inaugural edition of Art021, a Shanghai-based art fair, later this year.
