Robert Rauschenberg: the artist who revolutionized contemporary art

Robert Rauschenberg, the American artist and pioneer of contemporary art, is at the heart of two exhibitions that BiM, the innovative work destination under development in the heart of Bicocca, in Milan, is opening to the public starting April 2 in its newly renovated spaces.

Furthermore, the exhibitions, Open Score and Le luci e gli amanti, explore the relationship between art, music, and light, reinterpreting Rauschenberg’s vision through a dialogue between disciplines and expressive languages.

Open Score: total art between music, poetry, and images

Curated by Nicola Ricciardi and produced by EX., Open Score – open until April 27 – is a tribute to Rauschenberg’s Among Friends and is conceived as a total artwork.

Additionally, the exhibition explores the synergy between music, visual art, and poetry, celebrating friendship as a tool for creative collaboration.

Among the contributors to the project are SZ Sugar, a publishing house specializing in contemporary classical music, Paint it Black, an independent art-focused bookstore based in Turin, and Lorenzo Mason Studio, a multidisciplinary creative practice.

Le luci e gli amanti: the dialogue between light and matter

Curated by Davide Giannella and Greta Pasini, with exhibition design by SPECIFIC, Le luci e gli amanti – open until May 8 – interprets art as a collective process, aligning with Rauschenberg’s vision.

Moreover, the exhibition redefines the relationship between design and art, creating a relational space where light and artworks interact.

Five lighting elements engage with the installations through a metal network that envelops the space, thus generating new perceptions and visual interpretations.
